About Mosaic Tile

Since March of 2000, we have been a family owned and operated business. Our founder, Haleigh Stallworth, understood the significance of the internet from the first time she logged onto AOL in 1995. After a few years of researching and buying and selling online, she purchased the estate of a mosaic artist in Vermont. The purchase of 20,000 lbs of loose vitreous glass tile in 12 colors was sold in lots on Ebay. From the beginning, creativity was an essential part of the business, as colors were mixed together for blends with names such as Summer Skies, Green With Envy and Fairy Garden.

In 2002, we launched MosaicTileSupplies.com, becoming the first online only tile company in the world. Showroom owners mocked us, saying “You can’t sell tile on the internet.” But we already doing it, and eventually, so were they. That same year we began introducing our own lines of glass tile. Kaleidoscope was first, soon followed by Prism, Illuminati and then Alchemy for metal tile and Lyric for ceramic and porcelain. Sales of mosaic tile on the internet boomed between 2002 and 2007 and many competitors entered the market.

Like all of them, years of struggle followed the crash of 2008. But in 2015 a shift in our offerings from glass tile to glazed porcelain started a resurgence that continues today. Our glass tile blends and gradients that were our specialty in the 2000s have been replaced by our glazed porcelain hexagons, penny rounds and squares. The Pinnacle Hexagon Patterns we now offer have proven to be the most popular of all our offerings and the Modern Craftsman color palette is driving it forward.

Through good times and bad we have consistently provided our customers with exceptional products, creative inspiration and excellent service. We have been part of two Spectrum Award winning projects, the Wing Lung Bank in Alhambra, California, and the Virginia Aquatic Center. Our tile has been featured on the cover of Architectural Digest and can be found almost everywhere in the country, from Las Vegas casinos and Disneyland restaurants to New York City brownstones and small-town Craftsman homes.

We are proud of our contribution to the building industry in our first 25 and we are very thankful for our many loyal customers through the years. Although Haleigh died of cancer in 2020, her vision continues as another generation moves the business forward. The best is yet to come.
