Collection: Solid Color Tile

Patterns get most of the attention, but solid color tile is the foundation most installations are built on. A clean field of one shade: sage, charcoal, mustard, soft white, is the canvas that lets a backsplash, floor, or shower feel finished without competing with itself. It's also what you reach for when you want timeless over trendy, or when you're planning a renovation that needs to age well.

Our solid color tile collection brings together every shape and finish we make in single-color sheets, from 3/4" penny rounds to 3x6 ceramic subway, in both glazed and unglazed porcelain.

Unglazed Tile Shapes We Carry

Color tiles come in more shapes than most people realize. The collection includes:

  • Hexagons: 1", 2", and 5" sizes in Lyric Glazed and Lyric Unglazed Porcelain, plus Modern Craftsman.
  • Penny rounds: Lyric Wafer and Lyric Modern penny tiles in dozens of solid colors.
  • Subways: Lyric Artisan 3x6 ceramic subway with a soft, handmade edge
  • Squares: Lyric Glazed Square, 1x1 Unglazed Porcelain, and Mod 3x3 glazed porcelain.
  • Specialty shapes: Beveled Arabesque, Mod Treble triangles, and Mod Chiclet rectangles.

Glazed vs. Unglazed

Both finishes show up across our colored tiles, and the right one usually comes down to where it's going.

  • Glazed porcelain: Higher gloss or satin finish, easier to wipe clean, stronger color saturation. Best for walls, backsplashes, and lower-traffic floors.
  • Unglazed porcelain: Matte finish with the color running through the body of the tile, slip-resistant, and a natural fit for historic restorations or busy floors.

For the matte option specifically, browse our unglazed tile collection.

Building Your Own Color Story

Because everything here is solid, color-mosaic tile sheets mix easily. A few directions our customers tend to go:

  • A single bold shade as a feature wall (deep green, navy, or terracotta)
  • Two complementary tones paired across floor and wall
  • A custom blend of three or four hexagons or penny rounds for a one-of-a-kind look
  • A solid field paired with a Pinnacle pattern as a border or focal panel

Frequently Asked Questions

How many colors are available in the collection?

It varies by line, but across Lyric, Pinnacle, and Modern Craftsman, you'll find dozens of shades: soft neutrals, deep saturated tones, and plenty in between.

Are colored mosaic tiles in ceramic or porcelain better for floors?

Porcelain is the stronger choice for floors thanks to its density and water resistance. Most of our solid color floor tiles are glazed or unglazed porcelain.

Can I order a custom color blend?

Yes. Many of our hexagon and penny round lines support custom blends. Reach out for a quote on your color mix.
